Sauze d’Oulx is also a popular holiday resort during the summer months. It provides a beautiful location to enjoy a wide range of sports ranging from tennis, mountain-biking, football, volley ball and fishing in and around the village to golf and fishing in nearby locations.
With the chair lift being open every day in August, and at the week-ends in July, mountain bikers can enjoy the thrill of the descent in the free ride park (www.sauzefreeride). Those less energetic can take the chair lift up to Sportina and relax in the sunshine and enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants on the mountain. E-bike on rent in many shops.
Sauze d’Oulx is an ideal location for access to a wide variety of walks in the mountains. Those in the Gran Bosco Natural Park, the nearby Valle Stretta and the Orsiera and Rocciavrè Park being the most beautiful. Further afield, but only a one hour drive by car, there are some of the more well-known French National Parks (Dès Ecrins, Du Queyras, de la Vanoise) where you can enjoy beautiful trekking, panoramic views and fully appreciate the alpine experience.
The Susa Valley itself is well known for its nature and wild-life, as well as its architectural treasures. Visitors to the region always remember visits to the Sacra di San Michele, the l’Abbazia di Novalesa, the Forte di Exilles and the Forte di Fenestrelle and the many small alpine villages dotted along the valley.
