Sauze
d’Oulx, together with San Sicario, Sestriere, Claviere,
Cesana and the French resort of Montgenevre, forms part
of the
Milky Way, one of the most popular Italian ski areas.
There are more than 400 km of connected pistes, 120 of
which have snowmaking facilities, 88 ski-lifts running
from 1350m to 2800m, giving access to gentle forest
trails and high mountain skiing. In the mountains there
is a great choice of bars and restaurants for that
lunchtime break in the sunshine.
The slopes provide facilities for a wide range of skiing
abilities from beginner to expert. Added to this there
are two snow parks with jumps and rails for snowboarders
to perfect their tricks. There are three different ski
schools with expertise in teaching alpine skiing,
carving techniques and snowboarding. Good English is
spoken by the instructors.
During the Winter Olympic Games in February 2006, Sauze
d’Oulx successfully hosted the Freestyle events.
